Audubon Population

Audubon, a suburb of Philadelphia with a population of 8,693, is located in Camden County. We know that it is deemed one of the best places to live in New Jersey due to its dense suburban feel and majority of homeowners. Second, the area is popular among young professionals and leans toward liberalism. Finally, there are many coffee shops and parks, as well as above average public schools.

More About Audubon

The Borough of Audubon is a tiny, tree-lined neighborhood located between the Black Horse Pike and the White Horse Pike. In addition, we learned that it is bordered by Audubon Park, West Collingswood Heights, Mt. Ephraim, Haddon Heights, Oaklyn, and Haddon Township. Not to mention, according to statistics, it covers 1.5 square miles. To begin with, we discovered Audubon has a population of at least 9,200 people. In the beginning, there were about 800 people living in Audubon in 1905, the year it was first established. For this reason, it is difficult to imagine that the community at that time was still more than 50 percent farmland. We thought is was interesting that a housing complex was constructed during World War II to accommodate workers and their families. Lastly, we found out that this two square mile region was cut off from the main Audubon territory in 1947.

Audubon History

We are fascinated about the history of this small town. You never realize how much history there is in this South Jersey borough until you start digging into the wonderful past of Audubon, New Jersey. We were fascinated that Cuthbert Road was built by Gloucester County Freeholders in 1816 to connect Dobb’s brickyard. This was located on the north side of the road close to Newton Creek, with Webster’s Grist Mill. Equally important, this was located on the opposite side of the road, between White Horse Pike and Camden-Haddonfield (Haddon Ave.). I love that Nicholson Road was to be built by Camden County in 1857.
